THE TRAIL
Run through the diverse woods of Camp Martha Johnston (CMJ). This peaceful 165-acre camp in Crawford County has been owned and operated by Girl Scouts since 1925. On September 14, 2024, we are inviting the community out to our 5K Into The Woods Trail Run. CMJ offers miles of rustic scenery, hardwood forest, Sweetwater Creek, bridges, gravel, sand, mud, roots, rocks… OH MY! Come out and discover (or rediscover) Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia’s traditional Girl Scout camp. And camp isn’t complete without fireside s’mores! Come for an adventure and stay for a treat.
OUR REASON
Some of the most cherished memories that many of us have are those made while camping. Family camping, hiking, canoeing, backpacking, Girl Scout Camp, and day camps all have served to provide thousands of us with laughter, challenges, skills, and rewarding experiences. Girl Scouting gave us the opportunity to have these experiences.
Girl Scout of Historic Georgia’s (GSHG) wonderful camps need some tender loving care to preserve these wonderful resources. GSHG Camp Martha Johnston Adopt-A-Camp is a team of volunteers, moms, dads, grandparents, and responsible older girl volunteers that help keep our camp properties functional and beautiful. We handle carpentry, painting, and all-around upkeep. Materials and skilled labor are expensive, and manpower/womanpower is at a premium. We are using proceeds to help enhance, refurbish, and preserve our Camp Martha Johnston.

Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia will host its 3rd annual fundraiser on August 22, 2024, at Fall Line Brewery Co. This fun-filled end-of-summer event will feature beer flight tasting, heavy hors d’ oeuvres, raffle prizes, and live music. Additionally, everyone will have the opportunity to enter a raffle for exciting prizes donated from some of our cherished community partners and businesses.
