Get started by earning a highest award in Girl Scouting
You're ready to make the world a better place. Show everyone how you’ll do it by earning the Girl Scout Gold, Silver, and Bronze Awards. Each award will challenge you and helps you take action in a big way.
Change the world, Girl Scout
Gold Award Girl Scouts are rock stars, role models, and real-life heroes. How do they do it? By using everything they’ve learned as a Girl Scout to solve a problem in their community or make a lasting change in their world.
Seniors and Ambassadors who want to go for the Gold Award build a team of trusted adults, peers, and leaders in their community to guide them through challenges and support their success.
Plus? Nothing beats that feeling of seeing real, lasting, and sustainable change and knowing it was you who made it happen. It changes the way you see your place in the world—and how the world sees you.
You can become a Gold Award Girl Scout if you:
- Are in ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade and are a registered Girl Scout Senior or Ambassador
- Have completed the Silver Award or a Senior/Ambassador Leadership Award
- Have completed GSHG Gold Award Training
How to earn the
Girl Scout Gold Award
- Find an issue in your community or the world that you care about.
- Learn everything you can about that issue through research and trusted sources.
- Form a team by identifying experts and people in your community who could help you.
- Think about the root cause of an issue, then make a plan of how you could tackle it.
- Submit your project proposal on GoGold for approval.
- Present your project proposal to the Gold Award Committee and be approved to move forward
- Lead your team and carry out your plan.
- Reflect on the change you’ve created in your community and the world, share your story, and inspire others to make a difference, too.
- Fill out the Gold Award Final Report form and meet with the Gold Award Committee for final approval

You have the power to improve your community through action
Ready to help your community and earn one of the highest awards in Girl Scouting? Cadettes can team up with a small group of fellow Girl Scouts or work on their own. To earn the Silver Award, you will research an issue you care about, make a plan to address it, and then take action to improve your community.
You can become a Silver Award Girl Scout if you:
- Are in sixth, seventh, or eighth grade
- Are a registered Girl Scout Cadette
- Have completed the Bronze Award or a Cadette Leadership Award
How to earn the
Girl Scout Silver Award
- Find an issue you care about.
- Build your Girl Scout Silver Award team or decide to go solo.
- Explore your community and think of how that issue affects your community.
- Choose a Silver Award project that can lead to lasting change.
- After you develop your project complete a Project Proposal Form
- Make a plan and put it into motion.
- Reflect by submitting your Final Report for approval.
- Celebrate your accomplishments!

It all starts here. Juniors team up with fellow Girl Scouts to explore their community, discover a need or issue they care about, and work together to address it. It’s a chance to create a plan and make an impact on the community they live in.

You can become a Bronze Award Girl Scout if you:
- Are in fourth or fifth grade
- Are a registered Girl Scout Junior
- Have completed a Junior Leadership Award

Use the Bronze Award Volunteer Guide (available in English and Español) to help your troop get started today.
The Bronze Award is not council-approved; it is troop leader approved. However, in order for the reward to be added to the Girl Scout's achievement records, a troop leader must fill out the Bronze Award Final Report after the project is complete. Only one report needs to be completed per project.
Deadline to complete Bronze Award: September 30 after the completion of 5th grade
To be recognized in the council's annual Highest Award Ceremonies in May, the form must be received by March 31.
