Media Girls

Interested in the opportunity to represent GSHG? Ready to learn more about media careers? Apply to be a Media Girl!

Media Girls are called upon to:

  • interview with the media and attend press and GSHG events.
  • become a Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia influencer
  • participate in focus groups and brainstorming session.
  • create content, such as videos, photos, or other assets that can be used to tell the Girl Scout story.

Please note: Media Girls spots are limited, so we may not be able to accept every applicant this year.

Applications close on Wednesday, 9/30!

Media Girls are a team comprised of Girl Scout Juniors through Ambassadors that represent the council during media interviews and community events. They are often featured in marketing materials and on social media. These girls develop personal and social skills by participating in opportunities throughout the year and monthly virtual meetings.

As the official girl faces and voices of Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, Media Girls will:

  • Develop writing, public speaking, photography, and videography skills
  • Interview with media on TV, radio, or for print publications
  • Star in council commercials, videos, and print features
  • Participate in exciting Girl Scout events throughout the year
  • Speak at local events
  • Create Girl Scout videos
  • Have fun and make new friends

Media Girls love the spotlight and interacting with others! They are courageous and aren't afraid of a challenge. They’re Girl Scouts through and through—and they’re not afraid to show it!

Opportunities:

  • Develop public speaking while being photographed and filmed
  • Interview with media on TV, radio, and print publications.
  • Attend press events and speak at local events
  • Take part in commercials, videos, and print features
  • Create fun, relevant, and trending content that can be used on GSHG social media accounts
  • Participate in and volunteer at Girl Scout events throughout the year

Goals:

  • Help us tell the Girl Scout story!
  • Highlight Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia role models and inspire other girls
  • Develop lifelong skills while representing Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia
  • Elevate Girl Scouts as real-life examples of the impact our organization makes on girls and their communities

Requirements:

  • Must be a registered Girl Scout for the upcoming membership year
  • Must be flexible to be called upon for major Girl Scout events
  • Submit 5-10 pieces of content (photo, video, story, etc.) that GSHG can use in social media or other promotions
  • Must attend a minimum of 50% of virtual and in person meetings and media opportunities. Meetings are held most months to train Media Girls and discuss upcoming media opportunities. These meetings also give us a chance to discuss what girls have learned and what ideas they have, as well as to cheer each other on.
  • Must have a good knowledge of GSHG and Girl Scouts in general as they may have to talk about different topics – camp, cookies, programs, troop activities, trips, etc. Council will provide key talking points, but general Girl Scout knowledge is required.
  • Must represent Girl Scouts in an appropriate manner. Council staff reserve the right to dismiss a Media Girl from the program should she be involved in inappropriate conduct.
