GAINESVILLE, GA — Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is proud to announce that Carol Burrell has been selected as the 2025 Gainesville Woman of Distinction.
The Girl Scouts Woman of Distinction award honors a woman who reflects the values in the Girl Scout Promise and Law and who serves as an excellent role model for girls. Burrell, who is the president and chief executive officer of Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS), was selected for her positive contributions to the community.
Burrell has served NGHS since 1999, first leading NGHS’ network of primary care clinics before being named chief operating officer in 2004 and CEO in 2011. Under her leadership, NGHS has grown from a single hospital in Hall County to a network of five hospitals across the region, including a Level I Trauma Center. The system also includes Northeast Georgia Physicians Group, the sixth largest multispecialty physician group in the state, and Georgia Heart Institute, the state’s most forward-thinking heart and vascular program, as well as one of Georgia’s largest medical education programs.
Burrell will be honored during the Gainesville Woman of Distinction luncheon on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at the Chattahoochee Country Club. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Questions about this annual event may be directed to Lindsay McCuen, community engagement manager at Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, at 888-689-1912. ❧
