Located on 196 acres at the base of Pine Mountain in northern Harris County, Camp Concharty enchants girls with a picturesque lake, rustic lodgings, pool, low and high ropes courses, and spectacular views. Girls traditionally take early morning hikes up Pine Mountain to Dowdells’ Knob, where President Franklin Roosevelt held a historic meeting with Winston Churchill.
Just like our girls, every one of our nine camps is different, each with its own unique personality and special qualities. So, every girl will find a GSHG camp that's as awesome as she is - whatever her interests, age or level of outdoor experience.
Situated on Lake Lanier in Forsyth County, this 88 acre camp is available for both day and night events and camp. Leased from the Corp of Engineers, facilities include three open-air roofed pavilions with picnic tables, a campfire ring with seating, restrooms and showers, two smaller picnic shelters, a platform tent area, a floating dock, and a beach area.
Located on Savannah’s south side on 300-acre Rose Dhu Island, Camp Low includes 4 hammocks (pieces of forested land that rise above an adjacent marsh). It is home to magnolia trees more than 200 years old, cedar trees more than 500 years old and palmetto trees over 40 feet tall. An earthen battery was built by Confederate troops on the south and west sides of the island during the Civil War, and some of the trenches and mounds are still visible today.
This camp, leased from the Corp of Engineers, is situated on 38 acres on Lake Sinclair in Putnam County. It has three cabins and a bathhouse, a screened-in pavilion, and a dock with an enclosed area for swimming.
Camp Martha Johnston
This scenic 165 acre camp in Crawford County has been owned and operated by Girl Scouts since 1922. It has both units with rustic cabins and Sweetwater Retreat, a climate controlled facility that opened in 2000 with meeting rooms, a dining hall, and sleeping quarters.
Located 35 miles west of Albany, this 338 acre camp has given Girl Scouts the opportunity to walk in the footsteps of the Creek Indians. Okitayakani means "zigzag stream" in the Creek Language. Here girls can experience the wonders of the natural world and learn respect for the land creatures who dwell there.
Located on Lake Hartwell in Hart County, this 56 acre camp includes a troop house, shower house, three camping areas, Squirrels Nests, a lakeshore beach area, a floating dock, and fire rings. Swimming and canoeing is available. This property is leased from the Corp of Engineers.
Camp Robert Lewis
The roar of camp’s magnificent Mulberry Falls in Harris County provides a stunning backdrop for Girl Scout events. Known as one of the most scenic properties along the Chattahoochee Riverway, it encompasses 40 acres of pristine, unspoiled riverfront. This site is used to teach environmental education and the Leave No Trace camping philosophy.
Located in Columbia County on 184 acres of hilly woodland, Camp Tanglewood is a retreat into the wilderness in the heart of a city. From the low ropes course to the pool, lakes and creeks, Camp Tanglewood has something for everyone. Camp Tanglewood was also the recipient of a brand new state-of-the-art log cabin last year as part of ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition!
