Why Volunteer
Prepare her for a lifetime of leadership, and be the mentor she needs.
As a volunteer, you’ll introduce girls to new experiences that show them they’re capable of more than they ever imagined. They’ll each find their inner G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-Taker, Leader)™ after all!
You’ll be their cheerleader, guide, and mentor, helping them develop essential life skills and confidence that will last a lifetime. Imagine the excitement, the impact, the memories made—those are the moments you’ll share at Girl Scouts.
Embark on an extraordinary journey of leadership!

COMPLETE BACKGROUND CHECK: After completing the volunteer
application below, you will automatically be redirected to the online
background check. Once your volunteer application and background
screening have been completed, you will be notified by council staff
of your approval. While your application and background check are
being processed, you can begin to take training for the adventure that
awaits you! No need to wait!

BECOME A MEMBER: If you have not yet registered and paid for your annual Girl Scout membership, please visit our Online Registration page to complete this step.

GET TRAINED: For most volunteer positions, your next step
will be to take Girl Scouting 101. (Please
contact your Membership Manager if you need this training on CD
instead.) If volunteering as part of a troop leadership team, you will
need to take the New Leader Orientation after completing GS101 but at
your earliest convenience. Click here to view
all upcoming trainings (or contact your Service Unit Manager or
Membership Manager) and register for the event nearest you.
Please download Volunteer Essentials, which is a resource
for volunteers serving girls. This document offers information about
the Girl Scout movement and traditions, the Girl Scout Leadership
Experience and Journeys, healthy development in girls, how to keep
girls safe, taking trips and hosting events, and how to help girls
manage group finances, including details on Girl Scout Cookie sale.
Please review the Introductory Information and the Safety
Chapters at your earliest convenience, and then return to
the document and review the other sections when you are ready for
more.
