Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is pleased to offer the following program opportunities for Girl Scout Cadettes (girls in 6th , 7th and 8th grades). Events are listed in chronological order.

  • Silver Award Training
    CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​Training is required for girls working on their Girl Scout Gold or Silver Awards.  Bronze training is not required, but is recommended. Girls and adults are welcome at trainings. Cost is $5 per girl and includes materials. Awards training is free for adults.

  • Program Aide Training at Fire Side Chat
    CadetteGrades 6-8AdultAdults

    ​Cadettes, take your leadership skills to the next level with Program Aide training!  After you complete the training, you’re equipped to work with Daisies and Brownies in a troop, group, or council program setting.  Share your enthusiasm for Girl Scouting with girls who look up to you for inspiration.  Girls who complete PA Training have an opportunity to be Program Aides at any of Girl Scout of Historic Georgia’s Camps this summer for a reduced cost.  To participate in this training you must first complete your LIA requirements.

  • Snake Day at Elachee

    ​Snakes, snakes and more snakes. Don’t be afraid to see, feel, or hold a snake! Join Elachee as a variety of Georgia’s most knowledgeable herpetologists brings their snakes for you to see.

  • District Girl Scout Silver Award Training
    CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​When a girl is ready to go for Girl Scouting’s highest awards, she must first take the required training.   Cadettes (grades 6, 7, 8) may take the Girl Scout Silver Award training; Seniors (grade 9, 10) and Ambassadors (grades 11, 12) may take the Girl Scout Gold Award training.  Cost for these classes is $5 per girl and includes the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia Award Planner.  Leaders/advisors are invited to attend at no charge.

  • Overnight in Chehaw Park - Animal Helper Badge
    CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​Come explore and spend the night in the Zoo! Find out what happens when the rest of the crowd goes home! After exploring the zoo and having s’mores by the campfire, we’ll spend the night in Indian teepees. Girls will work toward their Animal Helpers badge. Adults must accompany girls.

  • Uniquely Me Extravaganza

    ​To be “unique” means to be unlike anyone else; is this mission possible? The 2015 Uniquely ME Extravaganza “Mission Impossible Edition” will be an event like nothing else. The mission begins the moment girls step foot on campus. Girls from around the council will gather with new friend-agents and have several missions to complete. Each team’s mission will consist of top secret activities dealing with the arts of dance, cooking, painting and more. To complete the mission and come out on top, you must discover your uniqueness. You don’t want to miss this unforgettable competitive event!

  • I am a G.I.F.T.
    CadetteGrades 6-8SeniorGrades 9-10AmbassadorGrades 11-12

    ​An alarming statistic: one in three highschool students have been or will be involved in an abusive relationship. In this program, girls will learn about the many facets of relational aggression including cyberbullyiing, toxic friendships, risk factors, power and control, and the cycle of abuse. Girls will be given the tools to recognize what comprises a healthy relationship and how to avoid troublesome ones. They’ll learn how not to accept relational aggression from others, and to build better relationships with everyone around them.

  • Junior Digital Photographer & Cadette Digital Movie Maker
    JuniorGrades 4-5CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​It seems like almost every gadget can take a digital photograph, from phones to laptops to, of course, digital cameras. But, do you know how to get the most out of your digital device, and what it takes to capture a winning photo? You will if you earn this badge! Program participants will use smartphone cameras (provided during the program). You are welcome to bring your own device and cables to connect. Light snack, instruction and hands-on fun during Digital Arts day! Badge included in program fee. All girls will make a take home video to share with friends and family and Facebook! Parents will need to sign the Internet safety pledge as well as the girls. The pledge is available here.

  • J. Low's Birthday Bash

    ​Celebrate Juliette Low’s birthday in style. We’ll visit the buildings that were important to her, tour the city that she loved so much by trolley, and earn a badge along the way. Saturday night we’ll become anyone we imagine and dance the night away at a true masquerade birthday ball. Troops will also have the option of participating in other Savannah Girl Scout activities including: earning your Coastal Georgia badge on a dolphin tour and joining the Girl Scout Militia at Old Fort Jackson.

  • Good Turn for Goodwill

    ​Many families in Georgia are struggling financially and many are homeless. Girl Scouts can help! Share your blessings with those who are less fortunate by donating lightly used clothing, shoes, and other household items to Goodwill. Celebrate National Family Awareness Month by helping families who are in need.

    ​You’re invited into the woods to learn how to use a dichotomous tree key to help identify the diverse tree life in the Chicopee Woods near Elachee. Cost of patch is not included in price listed.

  • Family Camp at Camp Concharty

    ​In honor of National Family Awareness Month, Girl Scout families are invited to a family campout. Enjoy archery, ropes and challenge courses, arts and crafts, fishing, and a hoedown at the main fire ring. Saturday morning, we’ll hike to Dowdell’s Knob. A hot breakfast will be provided; troops and families are responsible for lunch and dinner, which they may cook outdoors. On Sunday, you may choose to visit nearby Roosevelt State Park. Families may bring their own tents or trailers or reserve a cabin or treehouse. *Activities are subject to change*

After earning this badge, you’ll know how to make – and keep – your online world a positive place. Learn how to put your best self forward and create and lead positive social media profiles. Badge included, as well as light snack and knowledge you can use and share after the event is over.

  • Shoot the Bow

    ​Have you ever wanted to learn the proper way to shoot a bow and arrow? Have you ever wondered why arrows have feathers and why one is a different color from the others? Learn the answers to these questions and much more when you come out to “Shoot the Bow!” Experience the thrill of hitting the bull’s eye while having fun playing archery games. Fun patch included.
