Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is pleased to offer the following program opportunities for Girl Scout Cadettes (girls in 6th , 7th and 8th grades). Events are listed in chronological order.

  • Girl Scout Silver Award Training
    CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​When a girl is ready to go for Girl Scouting’s highest awards, she must first take the required training.  Cadettes (grades 6, 7, 8) may take the Girl Scout Silver Award training.  Cost for this class is $5 per girl and includes the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia Award Planner. Leaders/advisors are invited to attend at no charge.

  • Co-Ed Camporee

    ​Make new friends…and keep the old! Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Venture Scouts from around Georgia will join together for one amazing camporee. The Black Creek Scout Reservation has all of your favorite outdoor adventure activities – archery, riflery, challenge course, canoes, fishing, and ziplines across the lake! Come for a weekend filled with scouts and activities of all kinds. Participants must bring their own camping gear and tents. Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts will have separate tent areas.

  • Program Aide Training
    CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​Cadettes, take your leadership skills to the next level with Program Aide training! After you complete the training, you’re equipped to work with Daisies and Brownies in a troop, group, or council program setting. Share your enthusiasm for Girl Scouting with girls who look up to you for inspiration. Girls who complete PA Training have an opportunity to be Program Aides at any of Girl Scout of Historic Georgia’s Camps this summer for a reduced cost. To participate in this training you must first complete your LIA requirements.

    ​​Cadettes, take your leadership skills to the next level with Program Aide training! After you complete the training, you’re equipped to work with Daisies and Brownies in a troop, group, or council program setting.   • Signing For the World to See - Part 3

    ​Do you know American Sign Language? Learn to communicate with people who speak this special language and who want to be your friends. Learn the Girl Scout Promise and Law and Girl Scout songs in sign language. Tamecia K. Wright, an interpreter who is skilled in making learning fun, will be your dynamic instructor. This is a three- part series; in this session, you’ll learn Girl Scout songs in sign language.

    ​This late-night funfest is only for older girls! Hang out and relax around a campfire, sleep under the stars or play games at night. Sleep in the next morning and cook your own breakfast. Girls will cook out, work on craft projects and make lots of new friends! Work on Activities from the “Night Owl” skill builder badge for Cadettes, “Sky” skill builder badge for Seniors, and “Water” skill builder badge for Ambassadors.

You’ll also hang out with other PAs and plan some of your own activities.     ​You have taken Program Aide Training. It’s time to put your new leadership skills into action. Program Aides are invited to the sessions mentioned below for a week of development, growth, and wonder! PAs will spend the mornings developing their leadership potential – learning new ways to interact with girls, how to use these skills after camp, and prepping for activities in the afternoon. In the afternoon, PAs will work with the younger girls, moving through and providing direction during activities. After camp has shut down for the evening, PAs will have their own unique experience of craft, game, or pool time!

  • Session 1T Troop Camp: We are Family-Fun with your Girl Scout Sisters

    ​They say that your friends are the family you choose for yourself.  Spend time with your Girl Scout sisters exploring the bonds you’ve made all year.  As a troop you’ll make a flag to represent your
    troop family’s coat of arms. At the end of the program we’ll celebrate with a camp wide picnic. Special grade level activi- ties will make sure everyone has fun! (Note: girls will be broken up
    into groups based on their age/program level so keep this in mind when determining how many adults you need to bring with you.)

  • Session 2 Resident Camp: CMJ's Cadette Got Talent
    CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​Media surrounds us but it doesn’t always reflect our reality.  We’ll spend this week checking out the tech- niques used to make models look perfect and we’ll learn about how pictures, videos and
    video games influence us. We’ll design our own video games and tour a local news room. At the end of the week, you’ll take the microphone!  What will you say that will change the media around you?  The week’s activities will help you complete the It’s Your Story – Tell It! Journey. Of course, a week at camp wouldn’t be the same without swimming and archery.

  • Session 2 Resident Camp: Water Cycle Week- Beach Cruising Week
    CadetteGrades 6-8SeniorGrades 9-10AmbassadorGrades 11-12

    ​Like the beach? Snorkeling? Taking long bike rides? This week is for you! Learn to snorkel with a professional dive instructor. Don’t worry if you don’t own a snorkel; the camp fee includes your own snorkel set and rash guard shirt. After two fun days at camp, we’ll take off for the beach. We’ll travel just past Tallahassee, Florida, then start our first biking adventure on the St.Marks Trail, where we’ll check out the lighthouse and wildlife refuge. Our group will travel on to Saint Joseph State Park at Cape San Blas for a two night camp out. We’ll pitch our own tent, cook our own food, snorkel in the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, and explore the state park. On Friday, we’ll say goodbye to the beach and travel back to camp with wonderful tales of adventure. Bring your own bike and helmet. Your bike should work well and be the right size. You must be
    physically able to ride 8 to 10 miles. Cadettes will work on their “Trailblazing” badge. Seniors will work on the “Adventurer” badge. Seniors will work on the “Water” badge.

  • Session 2 Resident Camp: Saddles, Paddles and Arrows
    JuniorGrades 4-5CadetteGrades 6-8SeniorGrades 9-10

    ​Each day you’ll make your way to Foxboro Farms to develop your riding technique, and learn proper handling and grooming of a horse. After lunch you’ll learn how to tip a canoe – on purpose! Hone your skills in archery, and lead younger girls using what you’ve learned. This session is for beginner riders. On Friday, girls
    will have the opportunity to meet the hounds that Foxboro takes fox hunting and walk them out on horseback. Horse instruction provided by the trained and professional staff at Foxboro Farms.

  • Session 3 Resident Camp: Cadette-I Heart Camp!
    CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​Love the outdoors? This week is for you! We’ll get to know and trust one another early in the week, learn proper backpacking technique and practice “leave no trace” skills while cooking over the campfire. We’ll even learn how to pitch a tent and purify water. The week will end with an exciting overnight hiking trip at a
    local state park where you will put your new skills to the test. Add in some fun art projects that you will design and this week is sure to have it all!

  • Session 3 Resident Camp: Discover Scuba
    CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​Open up a new underwater world by discovering scuba diving. In this sampler experience, you will spend your week snorkeling in the pool. On land, you’ll learn the language of diving before your scuba experience in the pool. You will get acquainted with the
    equipment, put it on, and test it out – flippers and all. Camp staples like swimming, archery, and canoeing are on the list, too! High adventure instruction will be provided by certified professionals at an introductory level.

    ​Explore the art of woodworking! Your unit will choose creative design activities like hammering your name into wood with nails or making a creative design out of nails. Then you’ll learn how to use a level and test each other’s skills. Once you master using some simple power tools you’ll decide as a group whether to build something small to take home or to build something more permanent to leave at camp for others to use. We’ll also enjoy traditional camp activities like swimming and archery.

They’ll learn how not to accept relational aggression from others, and to build better relationships with everyone around them.

    CadetteGrades 6-8

    ​Training is required for girls working on their Girl Scout Gold or Silver Awards.  Bronze training is not required, but is recommended. Girls and adults are welcome at trainings. Cost is $5 per girl and includes materials. Awards training is free for adults.
