Ruth A. Knox
Board Chair
Prior to becoming president of Wesleyan College, Ms. Knox practiced real estate law in Atlanta for 24 years. During that time, she represented MARTA in its development of real estate projects and served as counsel for the Underground Atlanta retail and entertainment complex. Today, her areas of community board service include the Central Georgia Health System, Tubman African American Museum, United Methodist Higher Education Foundation, National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, Georgia Humanities Council and Georgia Women of Achievement. Ms. Knox received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan College and her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. She resides in Macon.
Deidra Langstaff
1st Vice Chair
Ms. Langstaff heads her own marketing firm based in Albany. Her firm has been named one of the top three small businesses in Albany though they also conduct business throughout the U.S. as well as in China, Brazil, and Argentina. Her board service includes the Albany Chamber of Commerce, the Flint RiverQuarium, Keep Albany/Dougherty Beautiful, Girls, Inc. and Communities in Schools. Ms. Langstaff was awarded the Ellen Raulerson Spirit Award by the Junior League of Albany, of which she served as president in 2002-2003, and was named to the “Forty Under Forty” list by Georgia Trend in 2008. She has lent her professional skills to Flint River Habitat for Humanity’s 2000 Women Build, Theater Albany’s Celebrities and the Arts annual fundraiser, and Albany Girls, Inc. Ms. Langstaff received her Bachelor of Arts in radio, television, and motion pictures from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been a member of the Southwest Girl Scout Council and is the immediate past chair of the Council Development Committee for the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, Inc.. Ms. Langstaff resides in Albany.
Helen Mills, Ed.D.

Dr. Mills recently served two terms as chair of the University of Georgia Retirees Association and served on the Athens Regional Medical Center board of trustees for 9 years. She recently served as secretary of the Athens Young Women’s Christian Organization and serves as member of the board of Northeast Georgia Boy Scout Council. Dr. Mills has also served as secretary of the board of the OneAthens Community Foundation. Her recent honors include the Northeast Georgia Girl Scout Council Woman of Distinction Award and the University of Georgia Alumni Association Faculty Service Award. Dr. Mills received her Bachelor of Science, Masters of Public Administration, and Doctor of Education degrees from the University of Georgia. She resides in Athens.

Donald Gregory

Mr. Gregory retired from Reader’s Digest, where he worked for 31 years, as senior vice president and national sales manager of the QSP division. Sixteen of those years he worked with Girl Scout councils and was instrumental in attaining a major gift to the refurbishment of the Juliette Gordon Low birthplace. He is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts. Mr. Gregory is a member of the board of trustees of Springfield College and the board of directors of First City Club, Savannah, a member of The Landings Club of Savannah and the Country Club of North Carolina in Pinehurst. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree from Springfield College, Springfield, Massachusetts and has done graduate work in special education at the University of Virginia. Mr. Gregory resides in Savannah and is presently a sales representative for Marriott on Hilton Head Island.
Mary Adams

Ms. Adams has been First Lady of the University of Georgia since 1997. She has a background in elementary education and served as assistant to the director of grants and contracts of the National Science Foundation in Washington, D.C., was assistant to the director of church relations at Pepperdine University, held an adjunct appointment at Centre College, and worked as coordinator of educational services at the Norton Center of the Arts at Centre College. Mrs. Adams has served as a member of the board of the Athens Clarke Heritage Foundation and the Lamar Dodd School of Art and has been the honorary chair of the Woman of Distinction Committee with the Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Lipscomb University, Nashville, and her Masters degree, also in Elementary Education, from Pepperdine University. Mrs. Adams resides in Athens.
Susan Andrews, Ph.D.

Dr. Andrews is superintendent of the Muscogee County School District. She serves on a number of boards including the Georgia School Superintendents Association, American Association of School Administrators, First Peoples Bank in Pine Mountain, and the Chattahoochee Council of Boy Scouts. Dr. Andrews was named the Georgia Superintendent of the Year in 2007. She is also a recipient of the 2007 Distinguished Educator Award and Distinguished Education Alumni Award from Columbus State University. In 2005, she was named the Concharty Council of Girl Scouts Woman of Achievement. Dr. Andrews received her Bachelor of Science and Masters of Education degrees from Columbus State University and her Doctor of Education from West Georgia College. She resides in Ellerslie.
Vivian Creighton Bishop

Mrs. Bishop has been Clerk of the Muscogee County Municipal Court for 17 years and has spent over 17 years in service to the state of Georgia through the Department of Family and Children’s Services and the Department of Corrections. Her awards and honors include the Georgia State Employee of the Year, the Community Service Award for Outstanding Service in Government, and the Public Service Award for Exceptional and Dedicated Service. Mrs. Bishop has served on the boards of the American Cancer Society, Girls Inc., Little Blessings Nurturing Center, and the Liberty Theatre. She is a member of the Urban League, NAACP, and the Muscogee Rotary Club where she is a Paul Harris Fellow and committee chair. In 2004, she was awarded the Big Heart Award from Big Brothers-Big Sisters and in 2005 she received the Girl Scout Woman of Achievement Award from the Concharty Girl Scout Council. Mrs. Bishop has served as president of the Congressional Black Caucus Spouses and the first African American vice president/president-elect of the U.S. Congressional Club, a bi-partisan spouses club for members of Congress, the U.S. Senate, the Supreme Court, Ambassadors, and former First Ladies. She Bishop resides in Columbus.
Patricia Lyons

Ms. Lyons is president of Senior Citizens, Inc., a nonprofit agency that serves over 20,000 seniors in seven counties of southeast Georgia. She has served as the Governor’s appointee to a blue-ribbon task force on prescription assistance and as a board member of the Georgia Council on Aging and of the Georgia Gerontology Society. She has received the First Class Award in Girl Scouting and has also been recognized by the Georgia General Assembly for Distinguished Service to the State of Georgia. Ms. Lyons has served as president of the Junior League of Savannah and on the Girl Scout Council of Savannah. She presently serves on the boards of St. Mary’s Home for Children, BB&T Bank, and the First City Club. Ms. Lyons received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee. She resides in Savannah.
Luz Marti

Ms. Marti has a long history of involvement with Girl Scouts from her girl experiences with her mother as a leader in her native Puerto Rico, to 10 years as a leader in SW Georgia/Flint River, where she was also a Board member. Ms. Marti is a retired USDA chemist, Girl Scout Woman of Distinction 2001, and 1998 Lewis Hine Award winner (National Child Labor Organization). She led the state’s first bilingual/bicultural troop, chaired a bicultural festival for many years and developed the LACE program to introduce Latina girls to chemistry. She is a strong advocate for children of migrant workers. Ms. Marti served on Governor’s Commissions for two different Georgia governors (Barnes & Perdue) and has held a chair position with United Way. She resides in Tift County.
Lydia Sartain

Ms. Sartain is presently an attorney and partner at Stewart Melvin & Frost in Gainesville, Georgia. She received her J.D. from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. Ms. Sartain served for nine years as district attorney of the Georgia Northeastern Judicial Circuit and was director of Georgia’s Children and Youth Coordinating Council under the leadership of Zell Miller. She is a founding member and past board chairman of Gainesville’s Edmonson-Telford Center for Children and was appointed to serve on the State Board of Public Safety by Governor Roy Barnes in 1999. Ms. Sartain is a past president of the Northeastern Bar Association and was named in 1998 by Georgia Trend as one of the state’s “Forty Under Forty” leaders. She also served in the elected position of solicitor for the State Court of Hall County and was named one of Georgia’s top trial lawyers in 2006. Ms. Sartain resides in Gainesville.Swann Seiler

Ms. Seiler is manager, External Relations for the Coastal Region of Georgia Power Company, where she has worked for 25 years. She is an incorporator and trustee of the Arch Foundation, University of Georgia and she holds the distinguished honor as serving as the first female president of the University of Georgia Alumni Association. Ms. Seiler co-chaired the Historic District Review Board in Savannah, is a past regional vice president of the Georgia Historical Society Board of Curators, and recently completed a term on the state board of Georgia Women in Achievement. She has served as president of the Junior League of Savannah, president of the Girl Scout Council of Savannah, and chair of the Chatham/Effingham Regional Library Board. Ms. Seiler is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She graduated from the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Ms. Seiler resides in Savannah.
Tony Sellier

Mr. Sellier is the current Georgia State House Representative for District 136. He received his B.S. in Management and Economics from the University of West Florida. He serves as a member of the Perry/Houston County Airport Authority and is a past president of the Fort Valley Kiwanis Club. Rep. Sellier serves on the Georgia Public Policy Committee of the American Cancer Society as well as the board of directors for the South Atlantic Division of the American Cancer Society. He is a corporate board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Georgia Heartlands and a member of both Peach and Crawford County Chambers of Commerce. Rep. Sellier is fluent in both English and Spanish and through his church’s migrant ministry he volunteers as an interpreter, educator, and cultural liaison. Rep. Sellier’s civic involvement includes service to the military community as chairman of the Military Affairs Committee for Peach County and Chairman of the Middle Georgia Military Affairs Committee. He is currently vice president of the Crawford County Cattlemen’s Association and previously held the responsibility of chairman of the Development Authority of Crawford County. Rep. Sellier currently serves on the board of the Historic Crawford Foundation and is a member of Crawford County Farm Bureau. When not in Washington, DC he resides in Fort Valley.
Melanie Slaton

Ms. Slaton is a practicing attorney with Hatcher Stubbs in Columbus, Georgia. She received her B.A. from California State University, Fresno, and her Juris Doctor from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley. Her professional affiliations include the State Bar of California, the State Bar of Georgia, the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, and the California Labor and Employment Law Section. She is serving or has served on the board of directors for the Historic Columbus Foundation, the Open Door Community Foundation, the Springer Opera House, Junior Achievement, and the Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. She is a member of the Leadership Georgia Class of 2007. She was recognized in 2008 by Georgia Trend Magazine as a Legal Elite in Labor and Employment Law and was a 2009 Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia Woman of Distinction. Ms. Slaton resides in Columbus.
Shirley von Beck

Ms. Von Beck is the program manager, Health & Occupational Programs at Aiken Technical College, Workforce & Business Development Division. She is currently an executive committee member of the United Way of Aiken County, chair of the Success by Six program, and board secretary for the Aiken County First Steps Partnership Board. Ms. Von Beck is a life-long Girl Scout and has held a GSUSA national position as Practicum Design Advisory. She has served as an instructor of trainers for Girl Scouts, Central Savannah River Council, and served on the executive committee and policy committee of that board. For 4 years, Ms. Von Beck was on staff as Adult Development Manager. She has received the Outstanding Volunteer award and the Thanks Badge. Ms. Von Beck has a Bachelor of Science in education from Shippensburg University and a Master in Education degree from the University of South Carolina. She resides in Aiken, South Carolina.
Robert Woodhurst III

Mr. Woodhurst is an architect at Woodhurst Architects in Augusta, Georgia. He received his professional degree from Georgia Technical College. Mr. Woodhurst is chairman of the Augusta Canal Authority and is a former president of AIA Georgia and AIA Augusta. He served on the National AIA board of directors as well as served as its vice president. In 1992 he was elevated to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects, one of the AIA’s highest awards. Mr. Woodhurst is a former board member and former president of the CSR Girl Scout Council and was awarded the high honor of the Thanks Badge. He is a graduate of Leadership Augusta and has served as an officer and/or board member for Historic Augusta, Downtown Kiwanis, Augusta Library Board, Housing Review Board, and the Augusta Historic Preservation Review Commission. He is also a former member of the Advisory Task Force for the Vice Chancellor of Facilities, Georgia Board of Regents. Mr. Woodhurst resides in Augusta.

Myra Blackmon

Ms. Blackmon was the founder of M. Blackmon Public Relations, handling strategic planning and new product rollouts in addition to national, regional and local media relations, advertising, and public participation efforts. She has served as executive, public relations and program staff of several Girl Scout councils and was president of the Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia, 1999-2003. She currently chairs the Holly Hills Neighborhood Association and co-chairs the communications sub-committee. Ms. Blackmon served as founding board chair of CampuSource, now part of the Episcopal Church Foundation, was a member of the Commission on Communication for the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta and of Family Counseling Service in Athens. She was also an inaugural member of the advisory board for the Georgia Women’s Entrepreneurs Network and the University of Georgia’s Alumni Magazine. Ms. Blackmon received her Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism at the University of Georgia and earned a Masters of Education in instructional technology from the University of Georgia in 2008. She resides in Athens.
Lillian “Bunky” Clark

Lillian McClung Clark, affectionately known as "Bunky," has received many awards for her civic and social activities. She was named a "Gracious Lady of Georgia" and has continued to be involved in that organization. She has also been recognized by the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer as one of the pioneers in the civil rights battle in Columbus. Ms. Clark has served in numerous civic and volunteer organizations. Following the 1996 Olympic Games, she was instrumental in helping organize volunteers for the Sports Council as well as chairing the hospitality room for all visiting dignitaries. Ms. Clark serves on the board of directors for several outstanding organizations such as Friends of the Library, Twin Cedars, the Columbus Alliance for Battered Women's Shelter, American Association of University Women (AAUW), Women In Numbers (WIN), CONTACT and the Ronald McDonald House Charities. She is a past Vice President of CIRCLE, a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and has worked with the Mayor's Commission on Diversity. From 2000-2003, she served as Chairman of the Board of the Girl Scouts of Concharty Council, Inc. Ms. Clark resides in Columbus.
Anne Ealick-Henry

Ms. Ealick-Henry is the executive director of Rape Crisis and Sexual Assault Services at University Hospital in Augusta. She serves on the board of directors of Prevent Child Abuse Augusta and the Georgia Coalition to End Sexual Assault as well as on the Rape Crisis and Sexual Services Advisory Board; state advisory committee for Prevent Child Abuse Georgia; the Augusta Judicial Circuit’s Domestic Violence Task Force and Sexual Assault Protocol Committee. She is a past board member of the Georgia Network to End Sexual Assault. Ms. Ealick-Henry has a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Augusta College. Her scouting career began early on as a Brownie; she remained active through Senior Girl Scouts and has volunteered as a troop leader and service unit manager. She was a board member of the Girl Scouts of Central Savannah River Council, serving a term as first vice president, and received the Girl Scout Thanks Badge in 2006. Ms. Ealick-Henry has just served a one year term on the board of directors for the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, Inc.. Ms. Ealick-Henry resides in Augusta.
Sonya N. Francis

Ms. Francis holds the position of Compliance Coach and Monitor for Goodwill Industries International in Rockville, Maryland but has the benefit of being able to work from home in Georgia. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Professionals, Augusta Richmond County Continuum of Care for the Homeless and has also served as a Girl Scout troop leader. A graduate of Augusta State University, she majored in business management. Ms. Francis currently resides in Augusta.
Rebecca Lee

Ms. Lee is vice president, Economic Development and Community Relations for Central Georgia Technical College. She serves on the board of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce, the executive board of the Central Georgia Chapter, American Red Cross, and is a member of the Georgia Adult Education Association, Real Estate Educators Association and the Macon/Bibb County Workforce Investment Board. She has volunteered on the HR committee of the Central Georgia Girl Scouts and her granddaughter is a third generation Girl Scout. Ms. Lee received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville and is a Certified Economic Developer Trainer (CEDT), granted by the Technical College System of Georgia. She resides in Macon.
