Mission Statement

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place!

Vision Statement

Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia is an essential presence in every community, rooted in tradition and focused on the future. All girls will be welcome to grow with us in leadership and service in an organization built on respect, integrity, and trust.

Hallmarks of our success include:

Girl-driven programs that are relevant, accessible and engaging, fostered by leadership in an environment where girls design their future and take charge of their destiny. Continuous service projects designed to enrich the lives of others and the community are exemplars of girls’ passion for Girl Scouting.

A consistent level of service for one in seven girls in rural and urban areas. We are recognized in Georgia as the “model” leadership development program for all girls. The impact of Girl Scouting is felt in local communities and beyond; institutions of higher learning and other organizations show favor to our girls because of their Girl Scout experience.

Retention of girls and adults that is outstanding. Alumni involvement that is a vital source of support and energy.

Staff who are highly qualified, well compensated and are motivated professionals who work in concert with a diverse, talented board of directors.

Local community leaders who seek board service as the Council has earned respect, recognition, and social status as the leading developer of value-driven leaders.

An organization that is financially sound with a large percentage of our income derived from endowments.

Facilities that are state-of-the-art and consistent throughout the Council.

We are a unified Council celebrating the history of Juliette Low, the mountains, oceans, and historic landmarks of Georgia and our proud Southern heritage. The Girl Scout Promise and Law endure now and in the future!

Johnson)"Over the last two years the Girl Scout organization has conducted a comprehensive review of our business with a membership-wide team of council CEOs, volunteers, GSUSA staff and girls nationwide. Through that extensive review we determined that realigning our councils will allow us to provide a consistent Girl Scout experience that builds courage, confidence and character in girls so that they may make the world a better place. The Girl Scout organization is very proud of the work we are doing in a diverse environment committed to meeting the needs of girls – the hallmark of the Girl Scout organization for nearly 95 years.
'Aligned' means we’re getting all our parts working together with one focus. Headquarters, councils, volunteers, staff and girls are bringing our best spirit, our brightest ideas, our courage and confidence and character, to make the Girl Scout Movement THE best leadership development opportunity for America’s girls.
